Members of the community have an opportunity to learn about the future of transportation in Horry County during a special presentation on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024, hosted by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce (MBACC).
The free public information session, titled “Shaping the Future of Transportation with RIDE 4,” will take place from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the chamber boardroom located at 1200 N. Oak St., Myrtle Beach. Due to limited space, attendees are encouraged to register in advance at MyrtleBeachAreaChamber.com/events.
MBACC Chief Advocacy Officer Jimmy Gray will lead the discussion, sharing the latest information about Horry County’s RIDE 4 initiative, which is the last question on the ballot in the upcoming election. Although the RIDE program has existed since the 1990s, it will expire next year unless action is taken by voters to extend this popular program. The monies generated will upgrade existing roads as well as build new ones. A full project list can be found on FixHorryRoads.com.
“Transportation infrastructure affects every Horry County resident, impacting our daily lives and the wellbeing of generations to come by playing a critical role in safety, congestion, storm evacuation, sustainability and future growth. This open forum is a chance to ask questions and gain a deeper understanding of the RIDE initiative before heading to the polls,” Gray said.
